Lough Erne, Ireland Print E-mail

Lough Erne (Irish: Loch Éirne) refers to two lakes in Ireland, situated along the River Erne. This waterway is found in the North-west of Ireland, with the lakes located in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. The river flows in a north-westly direction, beginning by flowing north, and then curving west into the Atlantic. The southern-most lake is further up the river and so is named Upper Lough Erne. The northern lake is Lower Lough Erne.

Lake Itasca is a small glacial lake, approximately 1.8 square miles (4.7 square km) in area, in the Lake District of northwestern Minnesota in the United States. It is regarded as the source of the Mississippi River.

It is located in southwestern Clearwater County within Itasca State Park. It has an average depth of 20-35 feet (6-11 m).

Lake Winnipeg (52°N, 92°W) is a large (24 400 km²) lake in central North America, in the province of Manitoba, Canada, at about 55 km north of the city of Winnipeg. It is the sixth-largest freshwater lake in Canada, exceeding even Lake Ontario in size, but it is relatively shallow (maximum depth 18m). It is elongated in shape, 416 km from north to south.
